Sarrancollin marble, a legendary natural stone from the French Pyrenees, is known for its rich history and striking appearance. This exotic marble was a favourite of King Louis XIV and was used extensively throughout the Palace of Versailles for fireplaces, door frames, and columns.
Sarrancollin features a dramatic blend of steel-grey and dove-grey backgrounds, with its most distinctive characteristic being the presence of intense, jagged veins and patches of oxblood red, terracotta, and apricot orange. The surface is covered with thin threads of white calcite and golden-yellow ochre veins that crisscross the stone, creating a striking brecciated look.
Sarrancollin marble, with its ornate patterns and painterly composition, is considered a work of art. It works beautifully in feature walls, fireplace surrounds, statement island tops, and custom furniture pieces.
